I’m Bernadette Dutra, and over the next few minutes, I’ll share some of the events coming up in Belfast over the next week or two, so grab something to write with. Monday October 16th, Belfast Community Radio WBFY will host it’s monthly Programmer’s Potluck at the First Baptist Church on High Street. This month, it will be a Halloween Ball. The public is invited to meet WBFY DujJs, dance to music played by DJ Doug, and have fun. The event is free and starts at 5:30.
Belfast City Council meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7PM in the City Hall, Council chambers (131 Church St). Council Meetings are open to the public with an opportunity for residents to address the Council at the beginning of the meeting. Meetings are broadcasted by BCTV and available to livestream at www.cityofbelfast.org
Thursday, October 19th, Our Town Belfast is hosting a Community Engagement Party. This is a chance to learn more about the organizations work in the community and get involved. The event starts at 5:30 at Harborwalk Restaurant. More information is at OurTownBelfast.org
Friday, October 20th, the Friday Night Flix free movie at the Belfast Free Library is Syriana, starring George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Jeffrey Wright. The film starts at 7pm and is rate R.
Midcoast Actor’s Studio present Frankenstein, a new adaptation by Belfast’s own Erik Perkins, performed October 20, 21, 27, and 28 at 7 P.M.; Sunday matinees at 2 PM on October 22 and 29 at the Crosby Center. More information at MidcoastActors.org
Monday, October 23rd, Our Town Belfast presents a screening of the original theatrical version of Star Wars: A New Hope. It will be a special showing at the Colonial Theater. Everyone is invited to dress up in a Star Wars costume. There will be raffles, giveaways, and more along with the move. Doors open at 6:30, the movie starts at 7:00.
