This month’s Programmer Potluck – Tips for Interviewing from Petra Hall

We have invited Petra Hall to provide us with interviewing tips this month, so mark your calendar for the Programmer Potluck. This month we’ll have a Thanksgiving theme. Join us on Monday, November 20 at 5:30 pm at the First Baptist Church on High Street. Food sign-ups will be at the station. Contact Jennifer Hill at rooted@fairpoint.net if you want to help out with the event.

We had a ball in October at our Programmer Potluck!

A geisha accompanied by her wizard, a clown, and an out-of-work disc jockey from the 1970s, were joined by rather normal looking 2017ites, as the striking characters made their entrances and took center stage: Princess Leia & Han Solo, an all-white storm trooper with venetian-blind glasses flashing, a cowgirl, a flapper. Chili by Ted & Stephanie Guerry, of Pig Out Barbeque fame, a pineapple upside down cake for Hawaiian Bill’s birthday, Gerry Murphy singing “Peggy Sue” – these were a few of the highlights of our Halloween Ball.

Internet Provider News

Say goodbye to Fairpoint, ’cause we’re going to Spectrum. Not sure what this means for the programmers, but I got a feeling we’re going to find out. Stay tuned.

Thanks to our technical support team

This month, we experienced a few interruptions of Internet service and appreciation goes out to our tech volunteers, Shawn Myers, Erik Klausmeyer, Pete Dalton and Vic Tredwell for their steadfast support in keeping the station going. Way to go, guys!

Publicity for the station

Word-of-mouth is the publicity solution for small town radio. Talk about the station to your friends, pass out cards, and bring up a show you enjoy. Many people out there still don’t know about Belfast Community Radio, or haven’t tuned in, believe it or not.

We now have a most gorgeous banner, thanks to our underwriting partners Pica Design and J Black Printers! We have a kit, too, with WBFY pencils (thank you, Doug), business cards, annual reports, and program schedules, so grab a friend and plan to set up a table at a local event to raise awareness about our shows.

And, many thanks to George and Kristin Frangoulis for tabling at the Poetry Festival!

Help Wanted

  • Erik is busier than a 1-armed paper hanger. If you have any time to offer the station, contact him at eklausmeyer@gmail.com and he’ll set you up.
